1. Start at Fort Delaware

Considered one of the most haunted places in Delaware. In the fall, you can even experience an overnight excursion, if you dare.

2. Crabby Dick's

Don't be surprised if you find orbs and shadows in your photos here. Ghost hunters have logged strange paranormal readings here, too, and many guests hear unexplained noises and see objects being moved or flung about.

3. Smyrna Museum

Previously, the building was used as a Civil War recruiting house. Some say they feel watched, see furniture move, and hear unexplained noises and voices when they're in the museum.

4. Governor's House at Woodburn

Woodburn is one of the most haunted places in Delaware, and many of the most famous Delaware ghost stories come from this spooky Governor's mansion. Almost every resident of Woodburn Mansion has reported ghosts, spirits, or strange happenings in the house.

5. The Town of Lewes

The Cannonball House survived the shelling of Lewes during the war of 1812, and apparently some spirits who did not have now flocked to the house for safety. Screams, footsteps and voices have been heard by many visitors.

6. Catmans' Grave in Frankford

Catman's Grave at Long Cemetery in Frankford is one of the spookier places to check out on your Delaware Haunted Road Trip. Catman was the grave keeper and still watches over things. Local legend says if you disturb his rest, he'll tinker with your car, and you might not be able to leave.

7. Maggie's Bridge in Seaford

Maggie's Bridge, on Rt 78 in Seaford, is named after a pregnant woman who died here in a car accident. If you want to summon her ghost, stand on Maggie's Bridge at night and shout "Maggie, I have your baby!"

8. Lums Pond

Dare to explore Lums Pond after the sun goes down - beware of the dark history and the ghost of a girl whose screams can still be heard, to this day, from the Swamp Trail. Read more below. This may just be one of the eeriest places in Delaware?

The Ghost Girl of Lums Pond.

Lums Pond, before it was an official state park, was just wild, unprotected land in New Castle County. In the 1870s, a young girl ran away from an unhappy home in New Castle County. She sought refuge in the woods near what's now known as Swamp Trail at Lums Pond State Park.

The helpless runaway came upon a man in the woods, and her newfound sense of freedom quickly turned to dread. The man captured her, raped her, and murdered her. The authorities found her body shortly after she was murdered, a manhunt to find the killer was launched. But he was never to be found. This gruesome act took place on the trails that visitors walk to this day.
